Overview

The design for the Serpentine suspension light originated from twisting and turning a piece of paper. By playing with the paper's tension and natural flow, the designers were able to discover the limits of the different shapes possible. The dark lines create the effect of an endless upwards spiral. The flow and curve of the almost translucent material is very natural and diffuses the light evenly. The design’s strong sculptural qualiy and illusion of perpetual movement makes it an engaging light to suspend over a dining table or to hang in a foyer or hallway. UL Listed. Manufactured by Moooi.

Front is a Swedish design collective that includes Sofia Lagerkvist (born 1972 in Eskilstuna, Sweden) and Anna Lindgren (born 1974 in Stockholm, Sweden). Their works are based on common discussions, explorations, and experiments – they are involved in all aspects of their projects from initial ideas to the final product. Front's design objects often communicate a story to the observer about the design process, about the material it is made of or about conventions within the design field. In their work, they have assigned part of the making of design to animals, computers, or machines. They have executed a number of cutting-edge concepts – an interior that constantly changes, created objects with explosions, robotic furniture, and a range of furniture inspired by their fascination with magic.
