Karim Rashid (born 1960 in Cairo, Egypt) completed a bachelor degree in Industrial Design in 1982 in Canada before moving to Italy to complete his postgraduate studies, subsequently opening his own studio in 1993 in New York City. He has worked with KAN Industrial Design and is one of the designers of the Babel Fashion Collection. Karim Rashid has won more than 300 awards over the course of his career including the Chicago Athenaeum Good Design award, IDSA Industrial Design Excellence award, Red Dot award, and I. D. Magazine Annual Design Review. His designs are part of permanent collections of several museums worldwide.
