The Beat Light Series of suspension lights was inspired by a trip to India taken by Tom Dixon and his Royal College students. While observing craftspeople manipulating the surface of spun brass by both beating and polishing the material, the qualities of light refraction and diffusion became evident. The diffuser shapes in the range were actually inspired by the various pots and vessels fabricated in brass.
Noted here is the Beat Tall Suspension Light that features a conical form – an inverted smaller cone atop an integrated larger cone. Composed of smoothly polished brass that is available in several finishes – shown here with a matte black exterior. Its interior sports a beaten texture that exquisitely refracts light that has been clear-coated to prevent oxidation. Matching ceiling canopy is also in a matte black finish.
