Designed by: Stefan Scholten
Manufactured by: Moroso
The elegantly solid appearance of Vol Table, by Stefen Scholten, arises from the encounter of two geometric forms: a conical base formed from three birch plywood sheets and a circular top of the same material. Designed on basic principles of construction, Vol is covered in linoleum, a recyclable material of former times made from natural constituents, among them linseed oil, from which its name is derived. Developed and patented in the second half of the nineteenth century, and then progressively replaced by cheaper vinyl or rubber alternatives with which it is often confused, linoleum has chromatic properties that lend softness and warmth to surfaces and furnishings, and enhance Vol's geometric lines. Warm to the touch, flexible, and resistant to fingerprints, linoleum is ideal for covering both gently curving contours and geometric linear designs. Clay, leather and walnut tones have been selected to accentuate the table's natural inspiration. Manufactured by Moroso.
