Tawaraya Ring is a Memphis icon from its inaugural collection in 1981. It is quite literally a "sitting space" that has presented a a boxing ring. Masanori Umeda's intention was to create "a space that is also a piece of furniture," a ring "for intellectual combat." Tawaraya Ring 2x2 is based on the 1981 original, yet has been updated in size, now featuring just two tatami mats at the base. The resulting size reduces the overall footprint within an interior.
