Designed by: Michele De Lucchi
Manufactured by: Memphis Milano
Michele De Lucchi's Kristall table was part of Memphis' inaugural collection in 1981. It's an eccentric service table with characterized by a zoomorphic look - a head, a body, and paws. It was inspired by the excursion module of the Apollo XI mission - its legs and feet seemingly poised to land somewhere on the lunar surface (or within any interior). As with most Memphis pieces, Kristall functions as much as a sculpture as it does as a service. With its bright combination of yellow and blue juxtaposed with a houndstooth print laminate in graphic black and white, Kristall is part of a small collection of tables created by De Lucchi including Polar (1984) and Flamingo (1984). Kristall is included in the permanent collection of the Centre Pompidou, Paris. Manufactured by Memphis Milano.
