Peter Draenert (1937 - 2005) was born in Germany and studied philosophy, art history, and philosophy at the University of Tübingen. He and his wife Karin co-founded Draenert - in the ensuing decades, the company has grown into a top international design brand with a number of important designs now included in the permanent collections or several museums worldwide. Many of Draenert's designs from the late 1960s are now icons and still in production today. According to the designer, "A table must be more than just beautiful to look at. It is our responsibility as designer to give it a further dimension."
