The Hinaki suspension light could be classed as David Trubridge’s first exploration into lighting. In 1995 he made a prototype of this form based on fish traps which are called "hinaki" by Maori, though often the name is used specifically for an eel trap. They were made from woven vines, some in amazingly beautiful forms. He set it aside for many years, only to develop it later after his Coral design had gained international attention. The Hinaki suspension light ships as a flatpack with assembly required. For an upcharge, the light can be shipped fully assembled or in custom colors. The black version comes with black cordset and fasteners. All others come with white cordset and clear fasteners. Additional cord length available on request.
