Manufactured by: Cassina
Feltri is the summation of thinking about form and materials as a pastiche where the artistic meets the functional. One of a kind, Feltri stands out for its enormous flexibility and for the fact that its "mattress-like" seat can be upholstered in wide array of fabrics. These can be mixed and matched to the color options of the Feltri's frame to enable a wide range of possible aesthetics. Feltri was created within Cassina's Research Centre, a place synonymous with experimentation and constructional avant-garde thinking, where Gaetano Pesce dedicated time and thought to the design, in the process thinking up a complex new manufacturing process that was later patented by the company. Created entirely from dense wool felt, Feltri's pliable, wrap-around back is all one piece, while its lower section is rigid and sturdy having beenimpregnated with a thermoset resin. The seat is attached to the frame using hemp ties that also extend around the chair's upper part - these hemp ties provide both textural juxtaposition as well as visual punctuation within the "colorfield" of felt. A comfortable padded "quilt-like" upholstery envelops the inner section of the chair. Available in two sizes. Feltri is included in the permanent collection of New York's Museum of Modern Art. Manufactured by Cassina.
