Tetatet Table Lamp

Designed by:  Davide Groppi
Manufactured by:  Davide Groppi

The "secret" to TeTaTeT’s precarious, gravity-defying balancing act is the clever use of a powerful magnet that is integrated within TeTaTeT’s columnar base allowing the lamp – seemingly against all odds – to remain upright.  The lamp can be used in this fashion if its proposed resting surface is metal. For use on a non-metal surface, TeTaTeT also includes a separate metal disc that functions as a “landing pad” for the base.  So strong is the magnetic attraction between disc and base that this thin-profile disc can be easily placed under a textile like a tablecloth to create the same gravity-defying effects.  The Tetatet has a rechargeable battery and the charger is included.  This lamp requires one 2W 3000K 237 lumen LED bulb that is included.  Manufactured by Davide Groppi.

Davide Groppi

Davide Groppi (born 1963 in Piacenza, Italy) grew up designing and constructing mechanical inventions with his father. According to the designer, “My father taught me not only how to put things together and create from spare parts, but also how to appreciate beauty and construct things solidly. Together, we built a pinball machine, a telegraph and … a lamp.” He began formerly working in mechanical design in 1985 before he started selling lamps of his own design in 1988. Groppi became well-known for his lighting work, which conveys emotion, weightlessness, and simplicity. He has collaborated with a number of prominent brands including 967 Design, Boffi, Christofle, De Padova, Harry Thaler, Omar Carraglia, Paola Lenti, and Sara Frattini. Davide Groppi's work has earned a number of honors over the years, including the Edida Award (2011), Design Plus Award (2014) and the ADI Compasso d'Oro Mention of Honour (2016).
