Nani Marquina (born 1952 in Barcelona, Spain) studied industrial design at the Massana School in Barcelona.  After a collaboration with Selles-Marquina Architecture Studio, in 1974 she opens her own interior design studio. In the mid 1980s, Marquina starts creating designs for rugs leading to her in 1987 to establish her eponymous brand, Nanimarquina.  Her first collections quickly garnered attention - New York's Museum of Modern Art store featured her Begonia collection in 1989; her Pera collection from 1990 received a nomination at the Delta Awards.  In addition to Marquina's own rug designs, her brand has collaborated with a number of designers over the ensuing decades including Ronan + Erwan Bouroullec, Ron Arad, Javier Mariscal, Milton Glaser, Diego Fortunato, Sybilla, Marti Guixe, Neri & Hu, Christian Zuzunaga, Doshi + Levien, Tjord Boontje, and Jaime Hayon.
