Anna Castelli Ferrieri
Anna Castelli Ferrieri (1918 - 2006) was an Italian architect and industrial designer.  Ferrieri studied at Milan Polytechnic Institute graduating in 1943 with a degree in architecture - the first women to do so.  Anna Castelli Ferrieri married Giulio Castelli and together they founded Kartell in 1949 - Kartell would become world renowned for its mainstream use of plastic in home furnishings.  The couple led the way in Italian modern design throughout the 60s, 70s and 80s where Anna Castelli Ferrieri not only designed several iconic and award-winning objects that are now included in museum collections around the world but she also functioned as the Kartell's artistic director.
