Campana Brothers
Humberto Campana (born 1953 in Rio Claro, Brazil) and Fernando Campana (1961 - 2022) are brothers that have been working together collaboratively since the mid 1980s. Humberto originally studied law but by the 1980s was designing furniture; Fernando completed a degree in architecture. In 1983, Estudio Campana was founded in Sao Paulo - over the past several decades, the Campanas have received critical acclaim for their high-concept furniture designs that blur the boundaries of art and design. Their work incorporates the idea of transformation, reinvention, and the integration of craftsmanship into mass production. Their designs are included in the permanent collections of numerous museum collections worldwide including the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Chicago Art Institute; Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris; Museum of Modern Art, Sao Paulo; and Vitra Design Museum, Weil am Rhein. Their designs have are regularly exhibited by museums and galleries around the world; they have been the recipients of numerous design awards. In addition to their limited edition work, they have created production pieces for several European manufacturers including Alessi, BD Barcelona, Edra, and Lasvit.
