In the Jewish religion, the Mezuzah is the name of the case containing a scroll inscribed with two verses from the Torah (Deute­ronomy 6:4-9 and 11:13-21) and is affixed to the doorframe of a home’s entrance.  "The second project designed for Alessi by the young American designer Dror Benshetrit, this Mezuzah comes within the framework of a collaboration we’ve begun with the Jewish Museum in New York, which, in turn, is part of opening up Alessi’s catalogue to the exciting, yet difficult and delicate topic of objects of worship" (Alberto Alessi). Alessi

Founded in 1921, Alessi is one of Italy’s leading manufacturers of home accessories, collaborating with designers and architects to create functional objects that are designed to delight and often challenge preconceived notions of how an object can look.
