&Tradition

&tradition is a Danish design manufacturer that was established in 2010 with a founding principle that is tied to both tradition and innovation… producing a range of lighting and furniture designs that spans from the 1930s through the present. In the words of its founder, Martin Kornbek Hansen, “All of our designers have a unique vision and their designs have the capacity to reach people in their everyday lives. The stable of designers that we work with are connected by a desire to push manufacturing techniques and to find innovative uses for materials.”  Switch Modern has curated a selection of &tradition’s lighting – suspension, table, wall, and floor lamps – that highlights the iconic 20th century designs of Arne Jacobsen, Jorn Utzon, and Verner Panton, as well as celebrates the contemporary designs by Sofie Refer, Norm, Ontwerpduo, Studio Vit, and Space Copenhagen.

Benjamin Hubert

Benjamin Hubert is a London designer whose goal is to create visually compelling products. He founded his studio, originally called the Benjamin Hubert Studio, in 2010, and subsequently changed the name to Layer, creating a brand dedicated to designing products with a “human-centered” approach. Benjamin Hubert also works with &tradition, where he leads a team that develops lighting, furniture, architectural installations, consumer products, and interior design. Their work has won numerous awards. According to the designer, “to justify introducing a new product into world there needs to be a tangible benefit of its core, something that sets it above and beyond its predecessors.”
