Clessidra Stool

Designed by:  Mario Botta
Manufactured by:  Riva 1920

As its name suggests Mario Botta’s sculptural Clessidra stool resembles the form of an hourglass – Clessidra literally means “hourglass” in Italian.  The stool is carved out of a single block of scented cedar wood that has been expertly carved to obtain its unique shape that actually looks like two hemispheres – one placed upside down atop the other.  The Clessidra stool can also be stacked to create an impromptu totemic sculpture.

Designed in 2009.
