Do-Lo-Rez 2 Rug

$3,598.00
Designed by:  Ron Arad
Manufactured by:  Nanimarquina

Hand tufted rug created in 100% New Zealand wool.  Created by Ron Arad, Do-Lo-Rez comes from the expression “do low resolution”.  The idea came to him after seeing a pixelated image in low resolution, which has materialized into a three-dimensional surface.  The rug is made through the handtufting technique, making each square a different height from the ones beside it.  On the other hand, its extraordinary format involves multiple vertices that seem like the final pieces of an unfinished puzzle.  Manufactured by Nanimarquina.

7' W, 8'4' D
Approximate height 36mm.

Nanimarquina

The contemporary rug collections by acclaimed designer Nani Marquina are distinct and inspired. From her Nomad collection, woven with ultra-soft Ghazni wool from Afghanistan’s native sheep, to the playful and colorful designs of the Sybilla collection, each piece is thoughtfully crafted to make an artistic statement.

Nanimarquina rugs serve both to enhance existing décor and act as foundational statement pieces. Many of her designs feature intentionally imperfect shapes and lines, as often found in nature, conveying freedom and self-expression. The designer plays with texture to create floor coverings that are as visually captivating as they are tactile.

Ron Arad

Ron Arad (born 1951 in Tel Aviv, Israel) studied at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem as well as at the Architectural Association of London where he studied under Peter Cook, the founder of Archigram; Nigel Coates, Peter Wilson, and Zaha Hadid were his classmates. He quickly developed artistic and cultural interests outside architecture, and his work became increasingly oriented towards design and non-rhetorical artistic uses of materials. In 1981, with Dennis Groves and Caroline Thorman, he set up One Off, the design agency that made its successful debut with steel furniture. As a sculptor and craftsman who has taught himself to cut sheet steel, he has produced furniture that is both emotional and sensual as well as aggressively light and practical. He has collaborated with several important design manufacturers such as Alessi, Artemide, Bonaldo, Cappellini, Cassina, Draenert, Driade, Fiam, Ingo Maurer, Kartell, Magis, Moroso, Rosenthal, Serralunga, Vitra, and Zeus Noto.
