Bierfilzl Round Coasters - Pack of 4 - Dandelion

Designed by:  Graf & Lantz
Manufactured by:  Graf & Lantz

Up to the late 19th century, coasters made of wool felt were used in taverns across Bavaria. They not only soaked up any moisture but were also used to cover the glass while sitting in a beer garden on a beautiful summer day to keep out falling leaves and unwanted flying guests. The invention of less expensive coasters made of paper around 1880 marked the end of felt coasters. Nevertheless, to this day Bavarians call coasters of all kinds "Bierfilzl" (beer felt). In keeping with the old tradition, we've created our Bierfilzl in thick, natural wool felt from Germany. They are handsome, sturdy, and durable, and are sure to protect your surfaces with timeless style.  Made in USA.  Manufactured by Graf & Lantz.

Graf & Lantz

Graf Lantz is an unconventional lifestyle brand that creates a range of objects in merino wool felt and quality leather hides – all are made in their Los Angeles studio and factory. Steeped in traditional Japanese and German aesthetics, blended with Southern California design elements, the Graf Lantz collection is both accessible and functional. With distinct and often contradictory points of view, Holger Graf and Daniel Lantz started by toying with designs in a rich but largely forgotten textile – merino wool felt. The duo set out to “sculpt” this time-honored textile into modern and unexpected forms, crafting a definitive collection of handbags, accessories, and housewares that have garnered both attention and acclaim.
