The Dot, model 3170 was developed by Fritz Hansen in the 50's around the same time as Arne Jacobsen created the Ant chair.  While creating the Ant, Arne Jacobsen spent lot of time at the Fritz Hansen factory testing, refining and finalizing his project.  During this process the Dot caught his interest and he included it in his work.  The result of the collaboration was presented to the market in 1954 as a three legged stool in veneer.  In 1970 the stool was revitalized as we know it today, with four legs.
The stool is comfortable, lightweight, and stackable.  It is available in white, light gray, dark gray, black, yellow, orange, red, petrol blue, and sage green with a colored ash finish.  This stool is also available with a beech or walnut veneer.  The base is crafted from chrome steel tubes.  Manufactured by Fritz Hansen.  Price includes shipping to the USA.

Fritz Hansen

Evolving from bent beech wood to the firm’s specialty, laminate wood, Fritz Hansen products have launched movements that extend from the pure lines of Scandinavian modern to the first steel furniture. Today’s Republic of Fritz Hansen is built on a foundation of superior craftsmanship and original Danish design. Leading the way since its 1885 origins in Copenhagen, the company has attracted a roster of influential designers, producing iconic pieces that represent breakthrough thinking.

Switch Modern is pleased to supply the broad range of Fritz Hansen products, including early classic and current forward-looking designs. The collection extends from the famous China Chair of 1944, to the Ant Chair of 1952, to modern comfort in the Alphabet Sofa from 2008, plus a wide selection of innovative tables, lamps, and more.
