Buds Table Lamp

Designed by:  Rodolfo Dordoni
Manufactured by:  Foscarini

In the 1990s, Rodolfo Dordoni designed a collection of table, floor and suspension lamps for Foscarini in brightly colored blown glass, named after the natural elements: Fruits, Blossom and Buds. Today, Buds has been restyled again, interpreting contemporary taste with a sophisticated wealth and focus on materials. The star of the design remains blown-glass, with a five-layer hand-crafted process, which is immediately evident thanks to the larger cut of the diffuser. With the new range of colors - cold brown, cold gray, bamboo green and white, with a straw-yellow internal finish - Buds takes on a dual value: it is warm when the lamp is on and cold when off.  The table lamps are offered in three versions.  Bud 3 is available in white and green. Bud 2 is available in white and gray.  Bud 1 is available in white and brown.  UL listed.  Manufactured by Foscarini.

All three versions of the suspension lamp require one LED Retrofit/ Fluorescent 23W E26 bulb.   Recommended white globe bulb 4.75” diameter for Buds 1-2, 3.75” diameter for Buds 3.  Light bulb is not included.

Designed in 2007.

10.3" Diameter, 22.3" H (Buds 1)
16.4" Diameter, 16.8" H (Buds 2)
11.8" Diameter, 16.5" H (Buds 3)

Foscarini

Foscarini was founded in 1981 on the Italian island of Murano near Venice. Given its location, its early production pieces were logically focused primarily on blown glass. By the late 1980s, Carlo Urbinati and Alessandro Vecchiat (both had previously worked as designers for Foscarini) took over management of the company and expanded its mission to include research and experimentation in a range of materials other than glass – molded polyethelyene, aluminum, polycarbonate, even Kevlar thread and silicon-coated metal. This commitment to innovation through materials has led to successful collaborations with a number of renowned architects and designers over the past few decades including Ferruccio Laviani, Tom Dixon, Aldo Cibic, Piero Lissoni, Marc Sadler, James Irvine, Karim Rashid, Patricia Urquiola, Luca Nichetto, and Valerio Bottin. Foscarini has received numerous, prestigious awards and many of its designs are now in the permanent collections of several museums around the world.
