Christian Dell

Christian Dell (1893-1974) was a German designer and silversmith known for lighting products. He studied silver forging in 1911 before entering the Saxon College of Arts and Crafts in Weimar from 1912 to 1913. After working as the foreman of a metal workshop, he began designing lamps, eventually creating a large number for the factory Gebr. Kaiser & Co. along with Fritz Hansen. He was one of the earliest pioneers of plastic design, using both amino plastics and bakelite as materials. In addition to his work with lighting, Dell opened a jewelry shop after World War II, running it from 1948 to 1955.
