Jason Miller (born 1971 in New York) earned an MFA in painting and worked in the art and advertising industries before transitioning to a career in design. His work is strongly influenced by his suburban Connecticut upbringing, resulting in functional pieces marked by wit and beauty – his upholstered chairs with duct tape are an example of this. Though he designs a variety of household accessories and objects, including furniture, Jason Miller is particularly well-known for his lighting fixtures, such as suspension lamps, sconces, chandeliers and wall lamps. He currently works from Brooklyn, where he runs Jason Miller Studio — Roll & Hill manufacturers many of his designs.
