Bitossi

Emerging from an ancient ceramic tradition in Montelupo Fiorentino region of Italy, Bitossi Ceramiche evolved from 19th century local handcrafted production to its high-design modern ceramic production in the 20th century under the artistic direction of one of its principal designers, Aldo Londi. Londi is known for his much-loved signature abstracted figural forms – cats, dogs, fish, horses, birds – as well as his decorative vases, bowls, and vessels many of which are offered in his iconic, beautifully gradient and tonal Rimini-blue glaze. Switch Modern highlights an extensive range of Londi’s classic midcentury pieces, the seminal Hollywood Series of graphic vessels developed with Ettore Sottsass in the late 1950s and early 1960s, as well as the contemporary minimalist forms created by British designer Benjamin Hubert.
