SWITCH's "Spotlight on
Design" in our Atlanta showroom on Wednesday, April 28, enjoyed the
largest attendance to date. Yong Pak of Pak Heydt & Associates was the guest designer, and
he did not disappoint. Pak and partner Charles Heydt
are highly regarded for their talent applying a modern sensibility to
classical design. Pak showed beautiful slides of Italian Renaissance
architect Andrea Palladio's villas in
Vicenza, Italy, where Pak studied architecture as a young designer. The
firm's reputation for meticulous, traditional detailing can be traced to
these early Palladian influences.
Speaking of Palladio, there's a fascinating exhibition, Palladio
and His Legacy: A Transatlantic Journey, at the Morgan Library
in New York through August 1. The show features 31 original Palladio
drawings from the Royal Institute of British Architects. These exquisite
drawings, which were exhibited only once before in America and never in
New York, will be on view to the public for the first time in over 30
years.
Guests were greeted with a redesigned showroom, now featuring the
latest
addition to our stable of quality designers and manufacturers, Poltrona Frau, the Italian
purveyor of high-end, classical, and contemporary furniture and
accessories.
